EDHREC’s October 23 “Top 10 Large Life Loss Cards for Hela, Mistress of Darkness” turns an unreleased commander spoiler into a very specific deckbuilding question: how do you hurt yourself in mono-black? Hela makes tapped 2/2 Zombies when someone gets hurt on your turn, once each turn, while her new vengeance ability lets you cast Dark Tutor from the graveyard and exile it afterward. The list ranks life-loss options by EDHREC score, but gives Ad Nauseam a raised eyebrow: its life loss is tracked in separate instances, and casting it at an opponent’s end step will not trigger Hela. Hela may not be legal until next year, so for now this is theorycrafting with unusually committed self-harm.
